I am going to try to do better, LDs. I really will.
Even if it means that I'll have to leave an open postbox at all times so I can write what I'm thinking so that you don't get too bored with me.
Even if it means that you send me ideas via email or facebook or twits, tumbls, or pony express, I'll try to do something every other day.
Even if it means just a hello and howareya.
I'm working on 2012 being The Year of the Comfortable. Meaning in my own home (cleaning out); my own space (the War Room WILL get done this year); my own body.
This may turn part fatshion blog. So if you don't like hearing about clothes or the like, just don't read those posts (I'll try to warn you *grin*).
This may turn part crafty blog. If knitting or pinterest-inspired craftiness doesn't "do" it for you, just ignore those.
But this will still always be a blog where I can hash out ideas about characters and plot lines...which doesn't seem like I've done much there, either.
Sigh.
But I'm going to try.
Have happy and safe New Year celebrations.

1-10...let's try it again.
LDs, I'm not going to Bitch and Moan today. I'm just too frustrated about it. I am, however, going to give you one through ten.
Day 2 - your favorite movie
Day 3 - your favorite television program
Day 4 - your favorite book
Day 5 - your favorite quote
Day 6 - 20 of your favorite things
Day 7 - a photo that makes you happy
Day 8 - a photo that makes you angry/sad
Day 9 - a photo you took
Day 10 - a photo taken over 10 years ago of you
This was originally supposed to be a 30 Day Blog Challenge, but I can't motivate myself to do that.
So I'm going to do ten at a time. Which is why yesterday's postie had 1-10 as the subject. Obviously, I'm an idiot.
Day 1 - your favorite song
Just one? "Amazed" by Lonestar or "The Dance" by Garth Brooks.
"Amazed" was what Mr Realist determined was our song, and it's the one I came down the aisle hearing at our wedding.
"The Dance" was our first dance, both as a couple and husband & wife. Mr Realist went home the weekend of Homecoming his first year in college because a rival school was having their Homecoming and a friend from high school had already asked him to go because it was a group of people they all went to HS with. I didn't get a Homecoming dance (lame, I know...). A couple of weekends later, we were headed to his hometown, and I made a point to say something: "I just think it sucks that Heather got her Homecoming dance, and I didn't...and I'm your girlfriend." Mr Realist stopped the car (we were on a remote backroad), flipped through his CDs, popped one in, skipped to a song, and we danced on the gravel road to Garth Brooks.
Day 2 - your favorite movie
Any of the Harry Potter movies. The Princess Bride. E.T. Steel Magnolias.
Day 3 - your favorite television program
I have two, actually. Glee and Bones. Love love love them, and I'm glad that I can see them on Hulu!
Day 4 - your favorite book
You're killing me, Smalls. Any Harry Potter. Of course, it might be easier to tell you fave authors. :)
Charlaine Harris (Sookie Stackhouse)
Stephenie Meyer (Twilight Saga -- I know, most people don't)
JRR Tolkien (LOTR and The Hobbit, and I'm trying to work my way through The Silmarillon (sp?))
Julia Quinn, Judith McNaught, Piers Anthony, Lyndsey Sands, Shane Moore, Dean Koontz, Linda Lael Miller...the list goes on. :)
Day 5 - your favorite quote
I have two: "what would you do if you knew you could not fail?" (seen on a paperweight) and "You can do or not do what you were gonna do, but you can't not do what you did." (Clare, Unspoken for Time)
Day 6 - 20 of your favorite things
these are in no specific order!
1. husband
2. friends
3. wine
4. books
5. sleep
6. imagining things
7. knitting
8. food
9. family
10. daisies
11. dogs
12. horses
13. Camp Ondessonk
14. solitude
15. movies
16. dirt
17. new mown hay
18. clean sheets dried in the sun
19. fresh powdery snow
20. rain
Day 7 - a photo that makes you happy
This is Mr Realist and I at a Cardinals game in July. Gotta love the tickets that are given to you!!
Day 8 - a photo that makes you angry/sad

This is a favorite professor that I will never see again...never see him smile, never hear his beautiful tenor voice, never hear him tell me that I can sing, ever again. David, I miss you.
Day 9 - a photo you took
I took the one of Mr Realist and me...with my iPhone :)
Day 10 - a photo taken over 10 years ago of you
and that's something I don't have on this computer. I'll have to scan some oldies but goodies and show them off to y'all.
Ok...I'm tired, and I have a long day tomorrow - work, visitation an hour north, and darts....
Heepwah, and be safe out there, will ya?

The Time Traveler's Wife
No, not the movie. The book. I'd prefer to read first, watch later. I just picked the book up last Friday, and am now finished. Spent the last 20 minutes finishing it up, and I'm going to have to read the last hundred pages or so again.
Couldn't see.
How would you react if you fell in love with a time traveler? Clare puts it simply: "I wait for Henry, not knowing where he is, wondering if he's ok."
For Mr. Realist, I would wait. Even though he is not a time traveler, I have waited for him in the past.
There are parts that are heart-wrenchingly beautiful. Others, you just shake your head and laugh. Most of all, it's the love that Clare and Henry have that literally transcends time.
I'd love to tell you how I felt about this book, but I can't find the words. Makes me want to snuggle up with Mr. Realist and be held safely in his embrace for the rest of eternity.
Crap. I'm beginning to not see the words again.
Stupid tears.

I'm a HUGE dork...

You know, I love Harry Potter. I'm not going to get into the depths of the stories because, for the most part, I'm content to let a story be just that - a story. I'm not sure why people want to analyze and pick apart 'why they think the author wrote what s/he did'...although that kind of makes me a bit hypocritical doesn't it? Seeing as how I have a degree in British/American Literature? Anyway, there's this fanfiction site of Harry Potter that I am an avid reader of that has these challenges every month or so. This month's challenge has sparked my interest enough that I'm writing one (sorry Megan, I'm tot' neglecting Lalo and Kati!). Let's just put it this way...there's a couple of Valley Girl cheerleaders in this one!
~~
I cannot wait for HBP to come out! I want to see how they play Hermione's reactions to Lavender and Ron snogging at every possible moment. I want to see Ginny finally kiss Harry. I want Quidditch!! I want Potions and Transfiguration and Charms and Merlin help me, there are days I want a frigging wand (only so I can hex my boss's bits off, I promise...well, maybe make me a little bit taller *grin*)! Please tell me I'm not completely insane (wait, you can't - I don't like to be lied to). Sigh.
~~
I started going through a drawer at a time tonight. I've got a half a bag of garbage now. I'm determined to have my stuff gone through and cleaned up by the end of the summer. Anyone got any good ideas for helping a confirmed pack rat renounce her genetics?
~~
I'm also awaiting the arrival of New Moon. I'm torn between wanting to be Team Edward and Team Jacob. Edward, while a vampire, is good for Bella - he's grounded (much like Mr. Realist) and older. Jacob, in spite of being a werewolf, is also good for her - he's a teenager and more apt to have fun. There are times when Bella's just too serious for her own good. I guess I could go Team Alice - she sees both sides of it; while she's on Edward's side because he is her 'brother', I think she's a bit on Jacob's side because he can get her into less trouble (if you don't count the cliff diving bit).
~~
Working my way through a Jim Butcher novel called Small Favor. It's pretty good so far. I'm also skimming my way through Your First Novel (Josh let me borrow this one). Kind of like a Bible. Picked up Eats, Shoots and Leaves last weekend at a used bookstore. If you think that your grammar could use a little brushing up on, you need to check it out. It's funny as hell in some parts, and I even learned a few things - who'dathunkit?
~~
Sorry this one's a bit short - I didn't think about it until late. I did say that I would try to post every day, didn't I? And if you're reading this and think someone else would be amused by my ramblings, feel free to pass it along. BTW - I've got my first follower! Woot woot! (scratch that: first and SECOND followers!)
~~
Only four more days to Camp O! HEEPWAH!
Have fun, and be safe out there
